"Gleason": Brad Garrett delivers a strong performance as
Jackie Gleason in a 2002 TV-biopic about the
comedian known as "The Great One."
The film traces Gleason's troubled childhood in Brooklyn (he had an
alcoholic, mostly absentee father) and his early, awkward attempts to
establish himself as a stand-up comic. Also explored are Gleason's
marriage to Genevieve Halford (Gretchen Egolf), a union that
eventually succumbed to his drinking and womanizing, and the comic's
greatest achievement: The Honeymooners. Marilyn Taylor: Terry
